Saudi Arabia arrested 19,710 Expat violators within first week of May
The Ministry of the Interior reports that inspection raids throughout the Kingdom in the first week of May resulted in the arrest of 19,710 unauthorized residents. Most Viewed : Join Saudi Expatriates channel on WhatsApp
The ministry's announcement was cited by the Saudi Press Agency, who said that 12,961 individuals had been arrested for violating the Residency Law, 4,177 for violating the Border Security Law, and 2,572 for violating the Labor Law.
- During the joint field security campaigns that took place between May 2 and May 8, the illegals were caught by the relevant government agencies and security forces. The 979 individuals arrested while attempting to enter Saudi Arabian territory were of various nationalities, of them, 41% were Yemenis, 54% were Ethiopians, and 3% were from other countries. While attempting to illegally cross the boundaries to outside the Kingdom, 46 more individuals were detained.
- Authorities at the ministry announced the arrest of 12 individuals on charges related to the transportation, housing, and employment of individuals who violated regulations on residency, employment, and border security, as well as providing refuge to individuals who were in violation of these measures. Out of the 49,407 expats, 46,342 are men and 3,065 are women, and they are all presently involved in some legal process for a violation. Recommend : Over 2 million to attend this Year's Hajj
- Among the measures taken, 13,383 violators were deported and 40,391 were directed to diplomatic embassies to obtain travel documents; 3,016 were directed to complete their travel bookings.
- According to the Saudi Ministry of Interior, those who help illegal immigrants enter the country, whether by providing them with transportation, housing, or any other service, to face 15 years in prison, a fine of up to SR1 million, the seizure of their vehicles and homes, and the public exposure of their names in the local media at their own cost.
- The Ministry of Interior has issued a public call to action, asking anybody in the Kingdom to report any instances of violations by dialing 911 in Makkah, Riyadh, and the Eastern Province, or 999 or 996 in any other region. See Also : Penalties for violating Hajj regulations
