Implementation of Wage Protection Service for Domestic Workers from 1st July
On Monday, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (MHRSD) in Saudi Arabia announced that it will be implementing a Wage Protection Service (WPS) through the Musaned platform to cover the salary of domestic workers. Newly hired domestic workers will be eligible for the Wage Protection Service starting from July 1, 2024, as part of the first phase of the program's implementation. Existing house workers will have the contract implemented to them in stages according to the number of domestic workers employed by each employer. By 1st January 2026, this program will cover all types of domestic workers.
- This program is an extension of the ministry's efforts to strengthen the domestic workers industry and protect their rights and those of their employers. Using digital wallets and licensed banks through the ministry's Musaned platform, it aims to facilitate salary payments in an open and transparent manner. Protecting the interests of all parties involved in a contract, this service makes wage transfers more secure and reliable. Recommend : Saudi Arabia prohibits Handcuffing of arrested people
- Starting on January 1, 2025, the new service will be implemented for employers with 4 or more domestic workers. On July 1, 2025, it will be implemented for employers with 3 or more workers, and on October 1, 2025, it will be implemented for employers with 2 or more workers. Since its launch on the Musaned platform on April 1, 2022, this service has been well-received by both users and the parties involved in the agreement.
- Paying domestic workers through designated government channels has several advantages for employers, one of which is the increased certainty that comes from knowing exactly how much money is coming in. Upon the termination of the employment contract or the worker's departure, the employer can more easily terminate the processes related to the worker. When a disagreement arises between an employer and an employee, this service also helps to safeguard both parties. Join us at : Saudi Expatriates Telegram Channel
