Earthquake with a magnitude of 4.7 was recorded in the Red Sea - Saudi Geological Survey


Saturday at 12:09 AM, an earthquake was detected in the central Red Sea, 161 kilometers west of Al Lith in the Makkah region of the Saudi Arabia, according to the Saudi Geological Survey (SGS). Trending : Request an extension for Traffic violations payment deadline



The earthquake had an epicenter at about 10.4 kilometers depth and a Richter Richter scale of 4.7, according to SGS spokesman Tarek Aba Al-Khail.

- Dr. Hani Zahran, who heads the Geological Survey Authority's Crisis and Disaster Center, detailed the devastating effects of the earthquake that struck the Red Sea's center.

- During his appearance on the Al-Ekhbariya channel, he elaborated that the earthquake that struck the Red Sea midway between Al-Lith and the rest of the coast was small, weak, and unaffected.

- According to Zahran, the earthquake was only for few seconds, caused little damage, and was limited to its location. It happened on a fault around 160 kilometers from the mainland and registered a magnitude of not more than four on the Richter scale.
