Cave Hira in Makkah will soon be accessible by a Cable Car system
By the year 2025, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) plans on building a cable car system to make it easier for visitors to reach the cave Hira in Makkah. The Cave of Hira in Jabal Al Noor, Makkah, is situated at an elevation of 634 meters, approximately 4 kilometers from the Makkah Grand Mosque. Improving the pilgrimage experience and making it easier to visit this important historical and religious site are the project's intended objectives. Millions of pilgrims make the journey to Makkah each year.
Fawaz Al-Muhrej, CEO of Samaya Investment Company, acknowledged the cable car project's operational status in an interview with Arabic TV channel Al Arabiya.
According to Al-Muhrej, the project is almost finished and will open a modern and easy way for tourists and pilgrims to reach the Cave Hira.

A pathway was unveiled last year as part of the first phase of the work, which aims to improve access for both walkers and automobiles. Those who wanted to avoid the long, difficult hike had to start at the foothills of Mount Hira, where the constructed trail begins. The two walking routes that lead to the Cave of Hira can be covered in 15 or 40 minutes, respectively.
Situated next to Jabal Al Noor, this area is rich in religious significance due to the Cave Hira, where the first revelation of the Holy Quran was originally revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).
