Over 21,000 arrested within a Week for violations in Saudi Arabia


Within a week, 21,049 people were arrested by joint field campaigns for violating restrictions regarding residency, work, and border security, according to the Ministry of Interior in Saudi Arabia. Trending : Can Final Exit visa be issued after iqama expiry



During the period from 25th July 2024 to 31st July 2024, the Ministry of Interior conducted campaigns throughout the Kingdom to monitor and arrest those who violated regulations regarding residency, work, and border security. The results of these campaigns are as follows:

1. A total of 21,049 violations were uncovered in the Kingdom-wide joint security field campaigns. Of these, 13,209 were related to the residence law, 5,177 to the border security law, and 2,663 to the labor law.

2. The overall number of individuals arrested while attempting to enter the Kingdom was 1,540. Of them, 43% were of Yemeni origin, 56% were of Ethiopian origin, and 1% were of other nationalities. Also, 42 individuals were taken into custody for attempting to enter the Kingdom illegally over the border.

3. Five people were apprehended for their roles in harboring, employing, and transporting individuals who violated restrictions regarding residence, labor, and border security, as well as for covering their tracks. Most Viewed : First Silent Airport of Saudi Arabia

4. There are currently 13,013 expatriates, consisting of 11,560 men and 1,453 women, who are being subjected to the procedures for implementing the regulations.

5. 12,943 of the violators were deported, while 5,374 were directed to their diplomatic missions to get travel documents, and 2,181 were directed to complete their travel bookings.

The Ministry of Interior has announced that individuals who assist and encourage border security violators, whether by transporting them within the Kingdom, providing shelter, or offering any form of assistance or service, face defamation, a fine of up to one million riyals, and possible penalties of up to fifteen years in prison.

Officials have stated that this is a serious offense that warrants arrest and is a breach of trust and honor. They have asked the public to report any such incidents by dialing 911 in the Makkah Al-Mukarramah, Riyadh, and Eastern Province regions, and 999 and 996 in the remaining regions of the Kingdom.
