10 Luxury cars as Prizes for best Photography of planes heading to Boulevard Runway in Riyadh for Riyadh Season

The Chairman of the General Entertainment Authority (GEA) Turki Al-AlShikh announced increasing the prizes for the best photography of aircraft heading to the Boulevard Runway area, one of the Riyadh Season areas, to 10 cars from one car, as a result of the great community interaction with the aircraft journey from Jeddah to Riyadh. Follow Saudi Expatriates Page on Facebook

Turki Al AlShikh through his post said that, "Your feelings and joy during the planes tour until they reached Riyadh made me very happy and it is not surprising because you are the people of the pure country and the most beautiful country Saudi Arabia. Therefore, we will hold a competition for the most beautiful photography of the planes on their way to Riyadh, whether a video or a picture, and the winner will get new luxurious cars, Show me your creativity and the participation is for only Saudis,"

- Three discontinued Boeing 777s from Saudi Airlines (Saudia) were recently moved from Jeddah Airport (JED) to Riyadh Airport (RUH), where they would be stripped for their usable parts. The new "Boulevard Runway" tourist attraction will make use of these airplane fuselages.

- Saudia took an unusual route by having big trucks carry the three widebody planes between the two locations instead of flying them. Cranes were used to transfer the nearly complete airplane fuselages onto the trailers of the vehicles before they set out on the 530-mile (850 km) trip from Jeddah to Riyadh. All three planes are Boeing 777-200ER versions, and they have a maximum capacity of 341 people in their three classes.

- Transporting the three Boeing 777-200ERs took place across a distance of approximately 1,000 kilometers, which is considerably slower than their normal service speed of 905 km/h. With a length of around 64 meters and a fuselage width of about 6.2 meters, each plane is huge, which poses a number of difficulties. Each plane's length is like thirteen Camrys 2025 cars lined up end to end, and its main body width is wider than three automobiles parked side by side, to give you an idea of scale. But the fact that the plane is more than 6 meters tall presents the greatest challenge. The combined height of the transportation vehicles and the overall height is higher than the clearance of most bridges, hence a longer path is needed to avoid certain overpasses. - While it is normal practice to transport retired aircraft by road, it is possible that this is the first case of three such large airplanes being transferred at the same time without removing their fuselages.

- Saudia received the first plane, with the registration number HZ-AKG, in March of 1998, it is 26.6 years old. After being taken out of service in September 2016, it has being stored at Jeddah ever since. Having gone into service in September 1998, the second one, HZ-AKK, is 26.1 years old. It had the same 18-year run as HZ-AKG before being retired in September 2016. The youngest of the three, HZ-AKP, is 25.6 years old and was delivered in March 1999. Before its operating existence with Saudia came to an end in June 2017, it serviced passengers.

- Images posted on X platform show the plane stripped of its wings, tail, and horizontal stabilizers. The last parts of the plane were raised into the trucks by cranes, and they set out on their last road trip. Most Viewed : Saudi Arabia calls everyone to take Seasonal Influenza vaccine

Saudia has now replaced its three old Boeing 777s with more current aircraft, such as 37 bigger Boeing 777-300ERs and more recent Boeing 787s. - In August 2024, Turki Al Shikh indicated that the Boulevard Runway project, which was first proposed for Riyadh Season 2023, will play a significant role in the 2024 season. Riyadh Season and Saudia are teaming up to create a brand new entertainment zone that will provide thrill seekers with an unforgettable adventure.

- There will be five permanently parked planes in the complex, three of which are converted Boeing 777s that will serve as restaurants and theaters.

- On board these planes, guests of Boulevard Runway can enjoy first-class service without the usual aviation problems, such as a need to worry about boarding cards, bags, or passports. See Also : Illegal expats children in Saudi Arabia can now enroll in schools for free

There will be a variety of one-of-a-kind events planned for the entertainment zone, such as gaming tournaments and interactive family-friendly activities centered around aeroplanes. Riyadh Season's crown jewel, Boulevard Runway, will span 140,000 square meters and be situated across from Boulevard City.
