The Civil Defense forces successfully extinguished the fire that broke out in the market near Madinah Road in the Al-Rawdah district at approximately 6:00 AM on Sunday morning.

The Civil Defense Directorate, in a statement on its X account, reported the successful elimination of the fire that engulfed the famous commercial complex in the city, following a hard battle lasting nearly 14 hours.

The directorate expressed deep grief over the loss of Akram Jumaa Al-Johni and Abdullah Manahi Al-Subaie, who died in the line of duty while combating the fire.

As reported by sources within the Civil Defense, the fatalities resulted from collapse within the burnt area, due to the absence of ventilation among the overwhelming intensity of the flames visible from considerable distances throughout the city. Reports indicate that the market was empty at the time the fire sparked in the early morning hours. Most Viewed : Passport expired on exit re-entry visa, what to do?

Over 20 firefighting and rescue units from Jeddah and Makkah have come together to address the swiftly advancing flames that have consumed important parts of the market, which has been in existence for over 40 years.

Following the containment of the fire, the Civil Defense personnel proceeded to conduct cooling operations at the site, carefully ensuring that no evidence of the fire remained concealed below the rubble.

The fire resulted in the structural failure of the market's exteriors at entrances one and four. Reports indicate that the fire originated at gate 4 and subsequently spread to various sections of the market.

Promptly, the security authorities and Civil Defense teams arrived at the scene, sealing off the adjacent streets and establishing a safety zone around the market. See Also : Saudi Arabia introduces tax refund program for tourists
