Just issuing a final exit visa to a worker, does not ends the responsibility of the employer in the Kingdom. It is the employer's duty to follow the expatriate's departure if a final-exit visa is issued, according to the Saudi General Directorate of Passports (Jawazat).

- Saudi Jawazat clarifies that if an employer does not know the worker's residence in the kingdom after a final-exit visa has been issued, the employer is required to request to cancel the visa and file an absence report (Absent From Work) with the appropriate authorities.

- A vast expatriate workforce considers Saudi Arabia their second home.

- A number of new labor reforms have been implemented in the kingdom in the past few years with the goal of making the employment market more appealing and competitive.

To protect contractual rights, the Saudi government passed a number of major labor reforms earlier this month.

- The new notice requirements for ending an employment contract with no set end date are 30 days for the employee and 60 days for the employer.

- Additionally, as a result of the revisions, the employer is now legally bound to stay away from doing anything that might violate the principle of equal opportunity for all employees.

- In addition, if an employee's brother or sister dies, the worker is entitled to three days of paid leave. These new changes also raise the duration of maternity leave from 10 to 12 weeks.

- Work on training period can no longer exceed 180 days, according to another modification of Saudi Labor Law.

The authorities said after being published in the kingdom's Official Gazette, these changes will be effective for 180 days.

- The Ministry of Human Resources  and Social Development of Saudi Arabia stated that these measures will improve the Saudi labor market, increase job stability, consolidate training possibilities, guarantee the rights of parties to contractual relationships, and increase employment chances for Saudi people.

- Saudi Arabia improved its sponsorship system significantly in the year 2020 as part of its massive labor reforms. The following year, the changes were put into force, regulating the issuing of exit and re-entry visas for expatriate workers without employers approval and allowing employment movement.
