MHRSD announces 94th Saudi National Day holiday for Private and non-Profit sectors
The official spokesman for the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (MHRSD) in Saudi Arabia, Muhammad Al-Razqi, announced that the official holiday for the 94th Saudi National Day will be on Monday, September 23, 2024. The official spokesman for the ministry explained, via his account on the X platform, that the leave comes in accordance with Article 24 of the executive regulations of the Saudi labor law.
Al-Razqi called on employers to abide by the provisions of the second paragraph of this article.

- Previously, the Ministry of Human Resources clarified that HR professions restricted to Saudi citizens only and confirmed that an expatriate worker is not permitted to work in a profession other than stated in his work permit or iqama.

According to Article 24 of the Executive Regulations of the Saudi Labor Law, the Kingdom’s National Day holiday will be for one day, on the first day of the Libra sign according to the Umm Al-Qura calendar, explaining that if the days of holidays and occasions overlap with the weekends, the worker will be compensated for them with an equivalent amount before or after those holidays.
- In case of Saudi National Day holiday overlaps with the annual leave, the annual leave shall be extended by the number of days of these holidays. While in Sick leave, the worker is entitled to full pay for the days of these holidays without regard to the pay due for the days of sick leave. In the event that the National Day holiday overlaps with the days of one of the two Eid holidays, the worker shall not be compensated for this day.
- The authority pointed out that the worker may, with the employer’s approval, obtain unpaid leave, the duration of which shall be agreed upon by both parties.
