For those who made an appointment through the Sehhaty app, health organizations have started offering seasonal flu vaccines at basic medical centers around the kingdom.

The ministry highlighted that, because the virus continues to change, the vaccine dose must be provided annually. The elderly should also be eager to get seasonal vaccinations to protect themselves from infections and the difficulties that can arise from a serious infection.

According to the Ministry, individuals at highest risk of complications when infected with seasonal flu are those with preexisting conditions, those taking immune-lowering medications, those aged 50 and above, children aged 6 months to 5 years, pregnant women, those with extreme obesity, and healthcare workers.

The ministry stressed that the seasonal flu vaccine is both safe and necessary, particularly for the previously mentioned people, due to its proven effectiveness in lowering the possibility of serious complications, the need for urgent care, and mortality. The authority highlighted the importance of seasonal flu prevention measures, including getting the vaccine, washing hands thoroughly, keeping hands away from the face, covering one's mouth and eyes with a tissue while coughing or sneezing, and keeping one's environment clean.

It was pointed out that the vaccination protects the family environment from the most susceptible groups to infection and complications, and that it also protects against severe symptoms at a high rate.

The Ministry of Health is continuing its efforts to raise vaccination rates, decrease infection rates, and decrease hospitalizations caused by seasonal flu. See Also : Riyadh Air announced its test flights from Riyadh to Jeddah
