Saudi Arabia halts issuing new Delivery bike permits
Until the new regulations are finalized, the Saudi Transport General Authority (TGA) stopped the issuance of new permits for motorcycles that can deliver orders through mobile applications. Saleh Al-Zuwayed, a representative of the authority, made the announcement. Trending : Insurance product to cover the dues of expat workers, if the company goes bankrupt
Al-Zuwayed stated that the experimental regulatory phase has now ended, and that enterprises involved in motorcycle delivery through delivery applications had already secured licenses during that time.
Unexpectedly, Riyadh's security forces have arrested some delivery bike drivers for violations of traffic safety standards or lack of proper work permits.
The outbreak of the coronavirus epidemic coincided with the explosion of electronic delivery services in Saudi Arabia. In addition to creating job opportunities in this booming area, this opened up a world of possibilities for investment and company expansion. Most Viewed : Benefits of Personal visit visa
An earlier report by Al-Zuwayed indicated that the number of motorcycles contributing to Saudi Arabia's light shipping transport activity increased alongside the growth of this activity. According to the report, the growth of this activity in the first quarter of this year was 38% compared to the first quarter of 2023.
Following their participation in the authority-launched transportation experimental environment last year, 80 Saudi Arabian enterprises now handle delivery applications, with 300 licenses officially granted for light freight delivery.
Particularly, there was a 61% increase, from 2900 in the same quarter last year to 4700 at the end of the first quarter of this year, in the number of current commercial registrations. Similarly, the number of business registrations increased by 45 percent by the end of the first quarter of this year, reaching 11,423 registrations, thanks to the application development activity.
