Can the issuance of iqama be delayed for Workers until their Probation period ends? Jawazat response
The General Directorate of Passports (Jawazat) in Saudi Arabia has set conditions for issuing residency for domestic workers, as business owners must issue it within a specific period to avoid imposing a fine for delaying the issuance of a resident ID, while it revealed the position of delaying the issuance of residency until the end of the trial period. One of the user asked a question to Jawazat about the delaying of iqama issuance for domestic workers until the end of probation or training period.
- Responding it Saudi Jawazat said that, Iqama or resident permit can be issued now by employer itself through Absher or Muqeem platforms, after paying the fees, submitting the required medical test, which are must in order to complete the procedure for issuing iqama.
- The Passports Department also said that the trial period for domestic workers is up to 90 days, as per domestic worker recruitment law. In case of delaying the issuance of iqama after 90 days, a fine will be imposed.
- Fine for delaying the issuance of a domestic worker's iqama is 500 riyals, which is applied after 90 days from the date of arrival of the worker into the Kingdom. Most Viewed : Saudi Central Bank bans deduction of amounts from Banks without permission of account holder
Conditions for issuing Iqama :
* Payment of iqama fee and late fines, if any.
* Payment of traffic fines registered against.
* Having a Border Number, which is given at the entry port of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
* Passing a medical test at the approved medical centers.
* Presence of the individual for whom iqama is issuing must be in the Kingdom. Read : Fine for abusive behavior at workplaces
* Passport of the Individual must be valid at the time of issuing iqama.
* Presence of Biometric fingerprints at Jawazat systems.
* Worker must not be in Huroob or Absent From Work.
Iqama Issuance Procedure :
1. Login to the Absher platform.
2. Click on Labor Services.
3. Select Services.
