On December 1, 2024, the Yellow Line (4), which runs alongside the King Khalid International Airport Corridor, the Blue Line (1), which links Olaya Street to Batha, and the Purple Line (6), which runs from Abdulrahman bin Auf Road to Sheikh Hassan Bin Hussein Road, will all go live as part of the initial phase of operations.

Then, on December 15, operations will be started along King Abdullah Road and King Abdulaziz Road for the Green Line (5) and the Red Line (2), respectively. Read : Saudi Arabia bans other countries symbols, emblems and logos for use in commercial purpose

The Orange Line (3), which will run along the Madinah Road Corridor, is scheduled to be fully operational by January 5, 2025.

The Riyadh Metro will accommodate one million passengers daily in its initial phase, and it will transform public transportation in the capital 'Riyadh' with its 176-kilometer network and 85 stations, including important hubs like King Abdullah Financial District (KAFD), STC, Qasr Al Hokm, and western stations. In addition to improving connections throughout the city, it claims to provide cutting-edge mobility solutions.

The "Darb" app, which can be found in app stores, allows commuters to easily plan their routes and buy tickets.

The Darb application facilitates the entry of users, and in case the application is not downloaded, the passenger can use the available devices to print cards immediately, which can be issued for ten riyals added to the balance.

After taking the right path, a metro train passes by every seven minutes, and the doors open and close automatically in 30 seconds.  The ticket indicates if the passenger's seat is "VIP" or not, and it is possible to upgrade for a few riyals. The train is the first of its kind with a fully automated system.

It was King Salman's visionary leadership as Chairman of the High Commission for the Development of Arriyadh—the predecessor of the Royal Commission for Riyadh City, that led to the completion of the Riyadh Public Transport Project, which includes the metro and bus networks, according to Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
