Saudi Arabia to get $100 million French fries plant from Americana
A new French fries plant is opening in Saudi Arabia. The Sudair Industrial and Business City factory in Riyadh is getting a $100 million (375 million riyals) investment from a division of Americana Holding for Food. The Agricultural Growth and Processing Company (Americana and Farm Frites) officially launched the new frozen French fries processing plant with a groundbreaking ceremony in Sudair Industrial and Business City on November 25, 2024. The Saudi Authority for Industrial Cities and Technology Zones and MODON's CEO attended a lease-signing ceremony at MODON Headquarters in Riyadh on November 20, 2024.
Early 2026 will see the opening of a second joint venture in the MENA region by Americana and Egypt's Farm Frites to produce frozen French fries and specialty potato products.
In the first phase of the factory's commissioning, the new facility will occupy an area of over 100,000 square meters and have an annual production capacity of 70,000 metric tons. Most viewed: Riyadh Metro
"Our partnership with Farm Frites dates back over three decades, having been partners in Egypt since 1988," stated Mohamed Ali Rashid Alabbar, Chairman of Kuwait Food Company (Americana).
"We are set to become the largest producers of frozen French fries in the MENA region" once the Saudi project opens, claimed Farm Frites owner and chairman Piet de Bruijne.
The investment of one hundred million dollars is a strategic step toward the goals of Saudi Vision 2030, which include enhancing domestic production, creating jobs for Saudi nationals, regional farmers, and potato producers, and diversifying the Saudi economy. With the help of the Agricultural Growth and Processing Company's investment, Americana, a company with a 20-year history and two operations in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, will be able to expand its footprint in the Kingdom.
