New amendment: Driving with an expired Vehicle registration (Istimara) is a Traffic violation
Saudi Arabia modified the Traffic Law, making driving a car on the road with an expired vehicle registration (istimara) a traffic violation. Most Viewed: Saudi Arabia approves new salary scale for engineering jobs
On Tuesday, the Cabinet session in Riyadh, chaired by King Salman, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, authorized a change to the Traffic Law.
According to the change, Article 71 of the Traffic Law has been removed.
According to Article 71, the fine for failing to renew a driver's license and vehicle registration (istimara) is 100 riyals for each year or part of it, with a maximum fine of 300 riyals. The fine will be evaluated 60 days after the expiration of the license.
The modification also included introducing a paragraph in the Traffic Violations Schedule with the following text: "Driving a vehicle on the roads with an expired vehicle registration."
