Saudi Communications and IT Minister meets with Amazon chiefs to expand Cloud computing and AI
Minister of Communications and Information Technology Eng. Abdullah bin Amer Al-Swaha received in his office at the ministry’s headquarters in Riyadh Amazon CEO Andy Jassy and Amazon Web Services (AWS) CEO Matt Garman to enhance the strategic partnership between the two parties. During the meeting, they discussed enhancing the development of cloud infrastructure and investing in artificial intelligence capabilities to support digital innovation, which contributes to the growth of the digital economy and achieving the goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
The meeting also discussed the latest technical developments in the fields of artificial intelligence and emerging technologies, in addition to developing and empowering national competencies in a way that supports the Kingdom’s leadership in adopting innovative technical solutions and enhances its role as a major driver of the digital economy and innovation in the region.
It is noteworthy that Amazon AWS had previously announced in February at Leap 24 an investment of $5.3 billion to build high-end cloud regions to provide its services to the region through the Kingdom. Join Saudi Expats News channel on WhatsApp
