Saudi Arabia arrests 19,418 illegal residents within one week
Over the past week, authorities throughout the Kingdom have arrested 19,418 people living in the kingdom illegally. The Ministry of the Interior said that the arrests occurred between January 2 and January 8 as a result of combined field security campaigns conducted by the security forces in collaboration with the appropriate government authorities. A total of 11,787 people were arrested for violations of several laws, including the Residence Law, the Border Security Law, and the Labor Law.
Among the 1,221 individuals caught while attempting to enter the Kingdom, 42% were citizens of Yemen, 56% were citizens of Ethiopia, and 2% were citizens of different nations.
While trying to exit the Kingdom unlawfully, 136 individuals were taken into custody.
Additionally, nineteen individuals were captured for their roles in harboring, transporting, and employing lawbreakers.
There are 33,576 undocumented residents, 30,261 men and 3,315 women, who are currently being subjected to different stages of legal proceedings as a form of punishment. Most Viewed: A final exit visa can now be issued on minimum iqama validity of 30 days
A grand total of 23,991 individuals were directed to their respective diplomatic offices in order to procure travel documents. While 3,869 were directed to finalize their travel arrangements, and 10,319 were deported.
The Ministry of Interior has issued a warning that anyone who helps people illegally enter the Kingdom, whether by transporting them, providing shelter, or any other service, could face a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison, a fine of up to SR1 million, and the confiscation of any vehicles or houses used for this purpose.
The ministry urged the public to report any instances of violations by dialing 911 in the Makkah, Riyadh, and Eastern Province regions and by dialing 999 and 996 in the remaining regions of the Kingdom. Follow Saudi Expatriates on Google News
