This round of arrests is part of a larger effort to crack down on organized begging in the capital city of Riyadh, led by the General Department for Community Security and Combating Human Trafficking Crimes.

The detainees have been sent to the Public Prosecution following the completion of the necessary procedural processes.

Authorities are coordinating with other organizations to guarantee that the abused youngsters get the help they need, according to officials.

Those who participate in or encourage begging are subject to harsh penalties under Saudi law, which criminalizes the behavior. Recommend: Riyadh police arrest 3 women for involvement in prostitution in a hotel

Anyone found guilty of managing, encouraging, or conducting organized begging operations is subject to a maximum penalty of 100,000 Saudi Riyals in fines and imprisonment for up to a year under the Anti-Begging Law.

A punishment of up to 50,000 Saudi Riyals, six months in prison, or both may be imposed on those who help or promote beggary.

After serving their time and paying penalties, expatriates found guilty under the law will be deported and will no longer be able to work in the Kingdom. However, the spouses and children of Saudi nationals who are not Saudi citizens are exempt from this. Trending: The first day of Ramadan 2025 in Saudi Arabia is likely to be on this date
