Saudi Arabia launches 'In the Prophet's Steps' to recreate the Makkah-Madina migration path


The “In the Prophet's Steps” program, also referred to as "On His Footsteps" in Madina, shows Saudi Arabia's dedication to Islamic heritage and cultural identity. It is a cultural and tourism project that recalls the Prophet Muhammad's travel from Makkah to Madina. Visitors experience a spiritual and historical journey that takes them back to prophecy in this commemoration event.

Vision 2030, which aims to make the Kingdom a global cultural and religious tourism destination, includes the “In the Prophet's Steps” project. The program introduces domestic and international tourists to the Prophet's migration, peace and blessings be upon him, and the historical events that surrounded it.

It aims to promote Islamic and human qualities linked to migration, including patience, sacrifice, and confidence in Allah (SWT).

This track covers 41 historical landmarks along 470 kilometers, with 305 kilometers dedicated to walking, giving participants a rare opportunity to follow the footsteps of the Holy Prophet.

The trail passes the Cave of Thawr, where the Prophet and Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq, may God be pleased with him, hid, and the Quba Mosque, Islam's first mosque, to the Prophet's Mosque.

The migrant route transforms the economies and societies of over 30 cities and towns.

The interactive trail uses virtual reality to bring historical events to life and provides thorough explanations at each stop.

The project will open next November for six months after being established with historical and governmental entities to assure accuracy. The project combines historical facts with modern infrastructure to give tourists an educational and cultural experience, making it a top destination for anyone interested in this historical event.
