Supreme Court Calls for Ramadan Moon Sighting This Friday
Muslims around the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia are being reminded by the Supreme Court to observe the sighting of the Ramadan crescent moon on the evening of Friday, 29th Shaban 1446 AH, which falls on 28th February 2025 AD, according to the Umm Al-Qura calendar. "Praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds, and prayers and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon all his family and companions," the Supreme Court said in a statement that included the following sentence.
According to Supreme Court Decision No. (191/H) dated 7/29/1446 AH, the first day of Shaban for the year 1446 AH is Friday 8/1/1446 AH (corresponding to 31st January 2025 AD according to the Umm Al-Qura calendar).
As a result, the Supreme Court is requesting that all Muslims in the Kingdom observe the crescent moon of Ramadan on the evening of Friday 8/29/1446 AH (corresponding to 2/28/2025 AD according to the Umm Al-Qura calendar). Read: Saudi Arabia implements new family law regulations
If someone spots it, whether it's through binoculars or through the naked eye, the Supreme Court asks that they report it to the local court so they may record their testimony, or they can call the nearest center, which will help them go to the court.
Because it requires cooperation in righteousness and piety and benefits all Muslims, the Supreme Court is hoping that individuals who are able to show their interest in this topic will join the regional committees established for this purpose and seek reward and compensation for participating.
