Crown Prince launches Saudi Architecture map with 19 Architectural styles


The Saudi Architecture Map, showing 19 unique architectural styles that draw inspiration from the different geographical and cultural qualities of the Kingdom, was officially launched by Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman. As part of Vision 2030, it showcases Saudi Arabia's dedication to preserving the country's architectural legacy, improving living conditions, and updating the urban environment in Saudi cities.

The Crown Prince, in his role as head of the Saudi Arabian government's architectural design committee, has stressed the importance of buildings that showcase the country's rich cultural and geographical variety. Appropriate urban planning that is in tune with its surroundings and incorporates modern and traditional architectural features was another point he made.

According to the Crown Prince, Saudi architecture combines traditional elements with modern ideas in design. Building an architectural framework that integrates the modern with the historic is only one way to improve cityscapes and people's quality of life. Architects all across the world will be able to draw ideas from this model to create groundbreaking new buildings.

The mission of Saudi Architecture is to promote regional talent, improve cityscapes, and increase the architectural variety of the Kingdom. More than 34,000 jobs in engineering, construction, and urban development will be created, both directly and indirectly, by 2030, and the project is projected to add more than SR8 billion to the Kingdom's total GDP.

With a focus on flexibility, Saudi Architecture gives developers the rules they need to use new building materials without driving up costs. With three distinct typographies, traditional, transitional, and contemporary, offered by each of the nineteen architectural styles, users are free to express themselves creatively while still respecting the integrity of the original designs.

The adoption of Saudi architecture will take place in stages. Applications will initially target large projects, government buildings, and commercial structures in the first phase, which will concentrate on Al-Ahsa, Taif, Makkah, and Abha.

The following styles are included in the list: Central Najdi, Northern Najdi, Tabuk Coast, Madinah Rural, Inner Madinah, Hejazi Coast, Taif Highlands, Sarawat Mountains, Aseer Escarpment, Tuhama Foothills, Tuhama Coast, Farasan Islands, Abha Highlands, Bisha Desert, Najran, Al-Ahsa Oasis, Al-Qatif Oasis, East Coast, and Eastern Najdi.

Partnerships among government organizations, engineering firms, and real estate developers drive efforts to integrate Saudi Architecture. To make sure everything is up to par in terms of quality and sustainability, architectural design firms will offer engineering standards, training sessions, and skill development programs to help engineers and designers.
