Saudi Arabia announces a fine for violations of misusing Water
Violators may be subject to a fine of up to SR200,000 for violations involving improper usage of water and its storage and distribution infrastructure. Most Viewed: Saudi Labor Law! the big update explained
The executive regulations set out by the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture for the purpose of monitoring and ensuring compliance with water efficiency and simplification criteria include penalties for various kinds of violations.
There are 5 broad categories into which these infractions fall: city, farm, industry, service, and general.
The following violations can result in fines in the urban sector:
* Using wasteful plumbing fixtures (e.g., mixers, faucets, showers, bidets, and flushing boxes) costs SR10,000.
* Tampering with or removing the efficient part of the fixture costs SR2,000.
* Wasting drinking water due to insulation issues, cracks in the underground or overhead tank body, malfunctions, or lack of a float costs up to SR50,000.

In addition, there are a number of fines that can be imposed, such as
* Up to SR100,000 for buildings and complexes that are required to have grey water stations.
* Up to SR10,000 for discovering a leak in the irrigation or internal water network.
* Up to SR10,000 for using an inefficient irrigation system, and
* Up to SR10,000 for public facilities that do not have water conservation awareness materials in languages suitable for each building's users.
In the agricultural and industrial sectors, there are penalties for infractions such as
* Not using efficient irrigation systems, tools, and techniques with a maximum fine of SR20,000.
* Not complying with water licensing requirements related to water conservation and efficiency with a maximum fine of SR100,000 and

Offenders can face fines of up to SR50,000 for general infractions, such as
* Failing to provide the National Center for Water Efficiency and Conservation with documents and information pertaining to water efficiency and conservation.
* Fines of up to SR100,000 for preventing or obstructing the work of inspectors and specialists in inspection, control, and investigation and

Additionally, service providers have been found in violation for a variety of reasons, including but not limited to:
* Failing to submit required reports to the center (up to SR5,000).
* Engaging in activities related to water efficiency and rationalization services without a license from the center (up to SR5,000) and
* Failing to comply with models, methods, and requirements for reviewing the urban sector's, industrial sector's, and agricultural sector's compliance with water quotas, water footprints, and standard quantities (up to SR200,000). Follow Saudi Expats News on X platform
