In addition to the stated vaccines for domestic pilgrims, the ministry added via the X platform that in order to complete the Hajj rituals of 1446 AH in a safe and healthy manner, it is required to obtain the meningitis vaccination for Saudi citizens and resident expatriates.
According to the ministry, it is not possible to check out or purchase Hajj packages without the flu vaccine. In order to have a healthy Hajj season, it is recommended to get the influenza and COVID-19 vaccines. The Sehaty app can be used to schedule vaccination appointments.
According to infectious disease expert Dr. Hawra Al-Bayat, who has lately observed that pilgrims arriving from outside the Kingdom are the most affected, the meningitis vaccine is obligatory for pilgrims in order to prevent the infection.
She explained during a phone interview with Al-Ekhbariya TV that while the vaccine is mandatory for visitors from outside the Kingdom, pilgrims from inside the Kingdom who have not yet gotten the shot should do so to protect themselves against meningitis. Additionally, she stressed the need for administering the vaccine every five years. See Also: Shebara resort ranks in the list of World's Greatest Places in 2025
