Ministry of Interior highlights Saudi flag usage regulations


A ban on raising the Saudi national flag that is faded or in bad condition is the most notable of the limits that have been explained by the Ministry of Interior in relation to the uses, processes, and restrictions that pertain to the Saudi national flag. When the flag becomes outdated, it is not allowed to be used. The party handling such flags has to destroy them.

Furthermore forbidden is the use of the national flag for commercial reasons, as a trademark, or for any other reason save those specified in the regulations. The flag cannot be carried or tied to something or used as a tool; it cannot also be printed on animal bodies.

The flag should always be standing and freely moving, not fixed or attached to the mast. People should not decorate its edges or make any other kind of addition to it. Whichever the situation, the flag should never be flown upside down.

The national flag, or the flag of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, should not come into contact with anything below it.

Except for the flag of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, where the Kingdom's logo, two crossed swords topped by a palm tree, is positioned in the lower corner next to the flagpole, it is forbidden to have any logo on the national flag. Join Saudi Expatriates family on WhatsApp
