Saudi Arabia implements severe penalties on Foreign trucks for violating law

The Transport General Authority has announced that the provisions for roads in the Land Transport System will be enforced starting from today, in line with Cabinet Resolution No. (614), which was issued on Sha'ban 19, 1446 AH (February 18, 2025 AD) in light of violations committed by foreign trucks transporting goods within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The penalties for violating Saudi regulations regarding transportation include fines between 10,000 and 5 million riyals, confiscation of the violating foreign truck for two weeks to two months, seizing of the truck upon subsequent violations, and deportation of non-Saudis (expats) engaging in transportation activities without a license.

The authority highlighted that the department will keep up its field monitoring and inspections in order to find violations and implement solutions that will create a safe and organized transportation environment that helps the economy grow, makes supply chains more efficient, and makes the logistics industry more competitive.

The department pointed out that the Kingdom's cities and parties should not use foreign trucks for transportation purposes and that only local carriers licensed by the Authority should be contracted for this purpose. The agency went on to say that foreign trucks can only be used to transport goods either from outside the Kingdom to a specific arrival city or from the same arrival city or other cities on the return route back to their home country.

To make the transportation sector in the Kingdom more reliable, efficient, and sustainable, the Authority has issued a call to all foreign carriers and trucks to follow the laws and regulations and to use the official channels to get the licenses they need. These steps will help them keep their business running smoothly within the framework of regulations. Follow Saudi Expatriates on LinkedIn
