Saudi Supreme Court calls for Shawwal crescent moon sighting on Saturday evening
All Muslims in the Kingdom have been asked by the Supreme Court to observe the Shawwal crescent moon on Saturday evening, the 29th of Ramadan this year, 1446 AH (according to the Umm Al-Qura calendar), which corresponds to March 29, 2025 AD. Anyone who witnesses this phenomenon, whether through the use of binoculars or the human eye, is asked by the Supreme Court to either go to the local courthouse and provide testimony or to call the nearest center for assistance in locating the closest courthouse.
Because it requires cooperation in righteousness and piety and benefits all Muslims, the Supreme Court is hoping that individuals who are able to demonstrate care for this issue will join the regional committees established for this purpose and seek recompense for participating.
The holy month of Ramadan started on March 1st this year in most Arab and Muslim nations, after the month of Shaban had ended, in Saudi Arabia and other Gulf states. Most Viewed: Meningitis vaccination is mandatory for pilgrims
However, Muslims around the world wait until they see the Shawwal crescent moon on the 29th or 30th of Ramadan to make their decisions about when to celebrate Eid Al Fitr, which marks the end of a month-long period of fasting and spiritual reflection.
Eid Al-Fitr 2025 as per astronomical calculations:
According to the International Astronomical Centre, no Muslim or Arab country would be able to see the Shawwal crescent moon on Saturday, March 29. No moon sightings will be possible that night due to the moon setting before the sun and the conjunction happening after sunset. However, the final announcement will be announced by the Saudi Supreme Court after the sighting of the Shawwal crescent. Join Saudi Expatriates news channel on WhatsApp
